Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS is a five day course which provides project & site managers, contractors supervisors, business proprietors and client-based personnel with the knowledge and skills to enable them to ensure healthy and safe conditions for all types of construction work.
It covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. The syllabus covers the Construction Design and Management Regulation and highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- state your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment.
- feel confident in your role implementing health and safety legislation throughout a project.
- understand the role of other duty holders involved in the design and management of a project.
- know the root causes of construction accidents and how to prevent them.

The Site management Safety Training scheme covers the legal requirements and safe working practice on all types of construction projects regardless of the duration, number of workers or type of client. Delegates will share their experiences and develop ideas under the guidance of the tutor covering a wide range of construction topics

Assessment and exams:
Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS is a highly interactive course delivered by means of case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual/group presentations. You will be continuously assessed and required to successfully complete a multiple-choice test.
Pre-requisites- Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English. All delegates must bring photographic ID with them to the course.
On successful completion of the Site Management Safety Training Scheme course you will be awarded a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.
This qualification must be renewed every five years by attending the SMSTS Refresher course before the expiry date on your current certificate.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS course attendance requirements:
Delegates are required to attend all sessions in Site Management Safety Training Scheme course. Certificate will not be awarded to candidates who failed to attend or miss lessons. Delegates must attend the days in order, in accordance with the course programme, to achieve the necessary learning objectives to qualify for the certificate. If this is not possible the delegate must enrol on a new course and retake the full course.
If it is not possible due to extenuating circumstances for example bereavement or certified illness(this does not include work load and attending meetings), the delegate may enrol on a new course to complete the missing days ensuring that they maintain the correct sequence of days, training and exercises and must complete the course within 90 days of the last day of attendance.
LWA reserves the right to charge an additional sum of to cover costs incurred when switching courses.

Course Duration – 5 day (37.5 hours duration) registration at 8.15am.
Beveridge’s will be provided during the day and delegates will have a 30 minute lunch break.
