Program Objectives
The major objective of the program is to expose the students to the field of management with a focus on the areas of Health & Social Care. In more detail, it would enable them to:
- Understand the various concepts of Management and their applications in the field of Health and Social Care and demonstrate managerial skills in a developmental way.
- Identify and apply specialist expertise relevant to the various sub-disciplines of Health and Social Care Management.
- Critically analyze management theories and assess the business situation, set attainable objectives, generate effective business policies and oversee their effective implementation.
- Understand how to carry out a business research project in a scientific manner by applying appropriate methodologies
Program Structure
We offer this structured course package that gives business graduates the opportunity to develop their analytical skills and personal effectiveness, to think globally and meet the needs of modern business, while gaining a well recognised qualification. The Diploma consists of eight taught units which normally takes a total of 12 months. This qualification will allow upward progression to the MBA in Health & Social Care. To achieve the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Health & Social Care Management students will be required to successfully complete the following 8 core units.
Objectives
These programmes are particularly designed for learners who wish to explore the Management of Human Resources within a global business context and welcome learners with Bachelor degrees in disciplines other than Leadership and Management in the Health and Social Care Sector or Development.
Assessment
To ensure the practical use of the program’s learning outcomes, assessment for the Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Social Care Management will be fully based on course work with no formal examinations. The course work will combine Case Studies, Regular Assignments and Presentations.
Moderation
In order to make assessment as fair as possible a system of moderation has been put in place. London Waterloo Academy undertakes all assessment activities and internal moderation, while the Association of Business Practitioners (ABP) undertakes an external moderation exercise. The final results are then presented to the Academic Board for formal approval.
Entry Requirements
Eligible candidates will be expected to satisfy one of the following requirements:

A first degree in business related subjects from a recognized university or institution.

Degree in nursing from a recognized university or Institution

HND plus minimum 2 years managerial experience

Students with a first degree, but not in a business domain, must have at least three years management experience.
English Language Requirements

Applicants must also satisfy at least one of following requirements for English proficiency: The medium of instruction of applicant’s tertiary studies was in English;

A score of 625 or better on the TOFEL;

A score 6.5 or better on the IELTS;

“A” credit or better in English in the GCE “O” or “A” levels or equivalent; or
-
Any other evidence of proficiency in English acceptable to the Institute Registrar.
