What Is the Virtual French Language Course?
The London Waterloo Academy VIrtual French Language Course is a live virtual French course delivered through Zoom.
Unlike self-paced language apps or pre-recorded courses, you learn directly with a tutor and other students in a virtual classroom. You can ask questions, practise speaking, take part in conversations and receive feedback during your lessons.
The course focuses on the four key French language skills:
- Speaking – practise everyday conversations and build confidence
- Listening – improve your understanding of spoken French
- Reading – develop your ability to understand French texts
- Writing – learn useful vocabulary, phrases and grammatical structures
The course also introduces French culture and everyday communication, helping you understand not only what to say, but how French is naturally used.
Online French Course for Beginners
Our Beginner 1 French course is suitable if you are starting French from scratch or have very little previous knowledge.
You do not need to be fluent in French to join.
During the first lesson, your tutor will learn more about your reasons for studying French and the areas you would most like to develop. This helps the tutor adapt activities and examples to the needs of the group.
You will learn through practical activities rather than simply memorising vocabulary.
Lessons can include:
- Conversation practice
- Pronunciation activities
- Listening exercises
- Questions and answers
- Pair and group activities
- Role-play situations
- Vocabulary building
- Grammar practice
- Reading activities
- Written exercises
- Everyday French communication
What Will You Learn?
The exact content is adapted to the level and needs of the group, but the course focuses on practical French that you can use in real situations.
You may learn how to:
- Introduce yourself in French
- Ask and answer everyday questions
- Talk about yourself, your family and your interests
- Understand common French expressions
- Use essential French vocabulary
- Pronounce French words more confidently
- Have simple conversations
- Ask for information
- Talk about everyday activities
- Improve your listening comprehension
- Develop basic French grammar
- Read and write simple French
- Communicate more confidently with French speakers
The aim is to help you use French in real-life situations, rather than simply study French theory.
